Veteran home assistance

Our veteran home assistance and household services
Services After Serving helps eligible veterans arrange practical household support at home through dedicated veteran home assistance.
If you are finding it harder to manage everyday tasks because of an accepted service-related injury or condition, DVA Household Services may help cover support around the home.
This can include things like cleaning, gardening, mowing, meal preparation, laundry, window cleaning, gutter cleaning and other household jobs that have become difficult to manage. Some people need short-term help while they recover.
Others need regular support because of an ongoing condition.
Either way, we help make the process easier.
How we help with all your household services
Trying to organise support can feel harder than the job itself.
You may need to understand what is covered, find a provider, book the service, manage changes, and make sure everything is recorded properly.
Services After Serving helps coordinate that process.
We help
-
review what support you need
-
arrange suitable service providers
-
coordinate bookings
-
keep service details clear
-
manage updates from request to completion
-
support the admin around approved services
The aim is simple. You should not have to chase different people or repeat yourself every time something needs to be done.
We help keep things organised, clear and respectful.

What household services may include
Our household services are designed to help with everyday household tasks that you may no longer be able to manage because of an accepted condition. The services available will depend on your approval, needs and funding arrangements.
Cleaning and home care
Help with general cleaning, housekeeping, laundry, ironing and small household jobs that keep the home tidy, safe and comfortable.
This may include vacuuming, mopping, bathrooms, kitchens, linen changes, tidying and routine household upkeep.
Gardening and yard maintenance
Support with gardening, lawn mowing, edging, weeding, pruning and general outdoor upkeep. This helps keep the property neat, safe and easier to manage.
Meal and shopping support
Help with meal preparation, basic food preparation, grocery shopping and everyday essentials. This can support people who need help keeping the kitchen stocked and meals organised.
Home maintenance tasks
Support with jobs like window cleaning, gutter cleaning, solar panel cleaning and minor home tasks. These are the kinds of jobs that can be difficult, unsafe or frustrating to manage alone.
Seasonal and practical support
Help with occasional jobs like firewood management, yard clean-ups or one-off household tasks. Some people need ongoing support. Others just need one job sorted.
We keep the process simple.
1. You send a request
Tell us what help you need at home.
You can contact us for yourself, or an authorised person can contact us on your behalf.
2. We review the details
We look at the service needed, the location, timing, access notes and any important health or safety information.
If you are using DVA funding, you or your authorised representative will need to confirm the service is approved and funding is available.
3. We arrange a suitable provider
We match the job with a suitable provider based on the service, location and availability.
Once the job is arranged, we confirm the details and keep you updated.
4. The work is completed
The provider completes the service and records any required updates.
If anything is not right, let us know as soon as possible so it can be reviewed.
Why are we different
You stay involved
Built with veterans in mind
One place for support
Approved funded services
Communication is key to success so we make sure your say is important to our success. You tell us what you need and we make it happen.
We understand that getting help at home can come with extra admin, funding questions and moving parts. We keep the process simple and respectful.
Instead of dealing with different providers, messages and bookings, you have one clear point of contact to help coordinate the service.
We handle the payment arrangements between you and the service provider where approved funded service arrangements are in place to minimise the administrational burden on clients and service providers.
Support that fits the home
Providers chosen with care
We understand everyone's needs are different so we tailor our services to your needs that suit you.
We don't just trust anyone with your care. We undergo specific vetting of our providers to ensure your care provider is chosen to achieve the best outcome for you.
